courage - a quality of spirit that enables one to face danger or pain without showing fear.

in becoming a leader, i realize that i will need to have courage. i cannot be a cowardly lion. i cannot hide everytime the witch comes. i need to stand up and fight (put 'em up, put 'em up). but being a courageous leader takes more than just standing to fight. sometimes it takes failing in order to grow. failure is not uncommon, especially for a young guy like myself in this profession. these are kids, and their parents know them best. i am trying to teach these kids, but i cannot do it alone. some parents expect to drop their children off at church... as if we're a daycare. parents to not follow up with what we ministers attempt to instill in these young hearts and minds. no, instead, some kids go home to neglect, fighting, and abuse. parents fail on their end of their child's growth. i find myself getting so frustrated when i know that these children (in whom i invest so much time and effort int0) get everything stripped away from them at such a young age. dads want their kids to "grow up" and "quit acting like a child." HEY DAD: i am a child. let me play and mess up stuff and get in trouble. correct my mistakes. discipline me. most of all dad, be my dad. love me. no, show me you love me. that's all i ask. be who i want to be when i grow up. DADS: this takes courage. it takes commitment. it takes time. you think you don't have time, make time for your children... before they're gone. play with them while they still want to play with you. be fearless. be the man you're supposed to be. sometimes it doesn't take your time. sometimes it doesn't require your energy. sometimes it doesn't take your entire life. it does take you. 1 Corinthians 16:13 - "Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. Deuteronomy 31:6 - "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."

Hey! Thanks so much for the comment. It was nicer on here than on facebook. So I thought I'd comment back. Everything is going great for us, Andrew's just working and I'm staying at home being lazy until school starts again. What have you guys been doing? Maybe we'll get to see each other over break...
