May 7

First off: Man, I'm tired. It's a little later than usual for me to do my blog, but that's mainly because I don't have to get up early tomorrow. In saying that, please excuse the relative shortness and sloppiness of the blog today/tonight.

I got to work on time today, which was a miracle considering I have to take care of the Blythe's two golden retrievers, who might be the most needy dogs I've have to take care of. They won't eat their dog food unless someone watches them or is eating at the dinner table... watching them. Regardless, someone has to watch them eat. It's a little ridiculous. That's why it was a miracle that I got to work on time... because I had to watch the dogs eat. But then again, it's not like someone was going to get on to me for being a possible 10 minutes late. Who knows? Maybe I would've got "in trouble"... but I seriously doubt it.

At work, I began the day with a little prayer time... only 15 minutes... but still, that's a good thing to start. I hope this can become routine. If not at the beginning of the morning at work... then sometime during the day would be nice. After the little prayer time, I honestly felt really tired, and goofed on the computer for about 30 minutes. Yeah, I'm honest... and I know I should have been knocking out something off that checklist I made... but I was NOT awake yet.

The goofing ended when I sat back and realized that I wasn't doing anything. Haha... I'm weird, I know. I began by working on what needed to be done before Sunday. This included prepping all the large and small groups for K/1, 2/3, and 4/5 for the 9:30 and 11:00 services. Doesn't sound like much, but it actually was. There's a lot of pages I had to copy, fold, cut, sign... etc. It takes time to do those things and it can get boring. Thank the Lord for Pandora ra
dio. I don't have any of my music on the computer at work, and pandora sure helps the day go by smoother and faster.

I gathered all the supplies and materials and game pieces for Sunday... and looked at the clock... 12:08pm. Wow, the morning went by quick! ...and I still wasn't done for the Sunday morning prep. I accidentally only printed, for some reason, 33 copies of something when I needed 80. I guess the copier ran out of that certain kind of paper length, and just quit printing the fold-it-yourself booklet. So after lunch (Subway foot-long meatball) I indeed found the right sized paper and finished with the booklets.

Oh, for lunch, I came "home" (the Blythes) and checked on the dogs. I met Dave and Joy's son, Kyle, while I let the dogs outside. He seems like a cool guy, understandably not as I pictured him, but he was nice to me.

Anyways! ...I met with Todd, the worship minister, about the Kid's Live Camp that we do after Camp Timberlake. Kid's Live Camp, in case you didn't know, is a week-long, Monday-Friday 9am-12pm camp where kids learn a mini-musical. This includes the music, dances and lines. At the end of the week (Friday), the kids perform the mini-musical for their parents, friends, etc. It's a fun time, and from what I understand, it has been successful over the past few years.

Todd and I picked what musical we'll be doing... "The Game Plan"... where the theme is soccer and trusting in God's plan. I'll be the soccer coach for the whole "team" (kids in the musical).

Click the picture for a link to it.

We picked what songs the kids and I will be singing, and who will be playing in the band. Yeah, we're gonna do the whole thing with a band. I don't know how great that will sound, but it'll be fun. If you go to that site, you can see the 5 songs we picked... Bench Warmin' Blues, The Game Plan, Mighty is Your Love, Questions (a duet that Holly and I might be doing!), and Trust His Plan. Go check em out if you're that bored.

I stayed in Todd's office and we picked out songs that we'll be doing for Camp Timberlake with the "Wake Up" theme in mind. I can't remember all the songs we picked, but there are 3 of them that I had never heard before, and from the looks of it, Todd hasn't heard of them either. But it fits the theme, and that's why we'll do them. The songs are catchy enough for kids to remember.

After running back and forth from Todd's office to the printer/copier a million times, we finally had all the music printed out. I'll start learning all those songs as soon as I can, which will be next week when I get my guitars and equipment from Manhattan. Oh man, I hope I don't forget them.

By now, it was around 4pm, and I was about to call it a day. I set up all the Sunday morning stuff with notes on where they go (so I could remember) and at what time AND to which person. It's all sitting there in nice stacks, ready to be delivered. I listened to the entire songs that we picked for both camps while reading the music. Hope that helps get it into my head.
I then worked on installing the scanner/printer again. This is the 4th attempt at installing that blasted thing... and if it doesn't start working, I'm just gonna forget it. Not worth the headache after 5 tries.

I came home at 5pm, walked the dogs, which I found out had already been walked just an hour before... but they act like they haven't seen a human being in the last 10 years when I walk in the door... so I made their walk shorter than usual. Bwahaha... try and trick me again you tricky golden hairballs! Nah, those dogs are cool, well-behaved dogs, so I'm alright with playing with them.

I ate nachos I made for dinner and watched the dogs eat. Then I watched TV... since I have absolutely NOTHING to do since I know no one up here. Yeah, I know Garet, but he's gone for the weekend. So, another boring night, watching boring TV... when I'd rather be doing something fun... like volleyball, movies, hanging out with friends, being with my wife(!), ANYTHING! Bah... I guess that'll come later. Hopefully. Then I'll wish I had a night like this.

And with that, I'm off to lala-land. Goodnight friendly people.
