May 15

Saturday. The day of doing very little.

And that's what I did. Slept in til noon (ahhh), got up, walked the dogs, showered, shaved, then headed up to the church to get a few things done before Sunday.

I put all of the Sunday morning curriculum materials in their places. Both the Large Group and Small Group resources and papers are all in their rightful place this week. That's right, I know where things are supposed to go now! It's great!

While putting both the 9:30 5-G Discovery large and small group materials in their respective locations, I met Mary. Mary is the coordinator for the Fingerprints Daycare that runs throughout the week at the church. Mary has been in contact with my wife Holly about possibly working for Fingerprints. I talked to Mary briefly, got an application form from here to give to Holly tomorrow, and went on my material-placing ways.

The Fear Knot stuff is in it's place. If you recall, last week I did not know where all the Fear Knot handouts, booklets, game pieces, boards, etc... was supposed to go. I just walked around with it the stuff, looking for someone who looked like they needed the Fear Knot materials. Now I know where to put them. It's a relief knowing that I won't be in such a crazy situation like last week. I haven't heard from anyone being absent, which that could change... but probably not to the tune of 5 volunteers being gone. Mother's Day is the reason for last week's noted absences.

I went down to the 5pm Saturday night service and was introduced to the congregation that was present. Roger introduced me and did a good job of describing my current state of homelessness. I think he'll be doing that again tomorrow 3 more times. Whoever it is, I hope it isn't very awkward. If it is, oh well... I'm awkward. Ba-zing! Oh... I just "zinged" myself. Awkward turtle.

I sat up in the office with Garet for another hour after church. He had some things he needed to get done that he forgot about. I came back to the Blythe's, let the dogs out, and ate dinner--mac and cheese again! Garet invited me over to where he's staying to play some ping pong. We worked up a sweat and played something around 7 games. I only lost once of the seven... and I suck at ping pong. It was fun fun.

Now, I'm here, just got done talking to/seeing Holly on skype. She misses me, and I her, but tomorrow there will be much rejoicing. Haha... I don't like this whole "me-being-away" thing. The distance is annoying. As always, distance makes the heart grow fonder. We were already "fonder" before this, now it's just annoying and agonizing to continually be away from my sunshine. I'll be home soon babe!

Tomorrow, church, watch the Barcelona game, then onward to Manhattan! Should be a good/great day tomorrow... barring any unseen circumstances. Here's hoping for a nice, smooth day. I'm hoping the same for YOU as well.

OH, since this is Garet's last weekend, I thought I'd add one more picture of Garet and his future ministry. This is the best shot I could find of him in his "youth" (aka -60 pounds ago) and looking like he's deep, strong, and ready to go.
