July 7-18

After getting back from Oklahoma, it was time to focus on getting everything going on the fast track towards VBS.

Sunday, the 11th, went alright, with no major hiccups. The kids seem to get into Pair O' Bulls, and enjoy the cow humor. I like it more than them, though.

VBS is coming up quick, and the major project for me to do is get the set ready. I'm building a boat... a big boat. It'll be made mostly out of cardboard... and it's a challenge. After calling Ben up and using his truck to get some large pieces of cardboard for cheap, I began cutting up the cardboard and piecing it all together. Over the span of a week (12th-18th), I worked on it almost religiously. Holly helped me paint on Thursday through Saturday. We stayed at the church on Saturday night painting until 2 in the morning! Good grief.

The boat is now finished, and Sunday is next. We will be cutting the boat in half so we can get it through the doors. It is painted, primed and ready for show. I am excited with all the work put into it. The boat is over 16 feet long, and about 6 feet tall, 7 feet, if you count the railing. The waves we made also look great. The pictures do not do it justice, because the stage makes the boat look small... but it really isn't.

Anyways, we're ready to go for VBS... but wait. Some lady from the church has died, and we will be having her funeral in the auditorium on MONDAY. That's right. We'll get everything set up for the first day... take it all down... then put it all back up again. Talk about FRUSTRATING. Can we put her on ice? (insensitive, I know)

It'll be fine, I'm sure. Now it's on to VBS - High Seas Expedition. Here goes nothin.
