VBS.

Busy, busy, busy.

Monday was hectic, as are most first days of a new camp/VBS/or anything you do. The kids seem to like the ship, and the skits. We moved them around fine, as well as tore down the set to allow a funeral to be held in the auditorium. Frustrating, yes, and why can't someone be put "on ice" until after VBS? Really, what's the harm in doing that? :P

Tuesday through Thursday consisted of me doing the intro skit, directing kids... then leading the story time by acting like a Ship Captain, Peter, then Paul. It was fun, crazy, and a little bit rowdy. The kids reacted well with my acting, and we all had a great time. I wasn't too happy that I lost out on my "admin" job of just really making sure things go right... in order to do the acting thing... but it was fun. If I was the only admin, I would've had to turn it down.
Thursday night was the VBS "High Seas Expedition" Show. For some reason, Quad-C is high on doing shows. The kids sang the songs they had been learning throughout the week, as well as danced the choreography that some high school girls made up. The show was fun, as Joy and I did a skit, but I'm glad it's over and done with.

Friday was a pretty "blah" day for the end of VBS. USually you like to go out with a bang, but we just kinda let it go out with a whimper. Some guy came and did some puppet show (which the kids really disliked), we did an in-church service project (cleaning, scrubbing, and picking up trash)... so it was pretty lame, if you ask me. But, this is what Quad-C does on the last day of VBS, so I'm told.

Overall, VBS was fun, the kids seemed to enjoy the first 4 days, at least. I had a good time getting to make the kids laugh and act silly. I put together a video of them, as you can watch here...

Sunday was just another Sunday, with the kids still thinking I'm "Cap'n Jack"... but I'm just Clint. They're so smart, recognizing me as not me. :) The curriculum is starting to get a "little tiriing" said a few of the kids. How do we continue to engage them on such a high attention level without sacrificing the teaching aspect? Blah, looks like we'll try again with the next series, coming up pretty soon...
