It's Saturday! Sleep in! ...nope.

This morning was the first of many VBS planning meetings. 9am isn't early by any means, but it's Saturday. Saturday usually means sleep in. Oh well, that'll come later, I hope. I didn't do much in the meeting except listen. I am in charge of the music rotation, and I'm also going to be the main character in the welcome time as well as for promotion of VBS. Should be fun. While I'm excited for VBS, I'm still mentally putting it behind all the other events that are ahead of it on the schedule.

I was going to work on the Leader's Booklet for Camp Timberlake after the meeting, but that didn't happen. It's ok, I kind of needed a break from working on that thing. Instead, I hung out with Kelly Beyer's kids. Kelly is the office coordinator at Quad-C, and she has 5 boys. Only two were with her in her office today, Christian and Parker. They're 10 (Christian) and 6 (Parker) years old. They came up to the office and we played guitar, piano, coloring, watching stupid videos, and throwing dodgeballs at each other. It was really fun. I also talked to my Mom on the phone, which was great, because her and Dad just got back from Costa Rica. They had a great time, and I shared a little about what's been going on up here in Lincoln. I wanna go to Costa Rica too! ...maybe in a few decades.

Around 4:30, they begged their mom to ask me to come over to their house and eat pizza with them. She obliged, and I accepted her invitation. Her house is on the other side of town, which doesn't sound bad in a town/city in Nebraska... but Lincoln is huge. I didn't know how big it was. I still haven't fully comprehended the size of it. It took us 20 minutes to get to their house, and I was told that we were only in the middle of town. There's still a whole other half to Lincoln. Crazy. I ate a couple slices. Played with the boys. Then my dad called.

Alright. I'm happy Dad called me. We talked about the possibility of staying at Thomas Beyer's house. In case you were wondering, Thomas is Kelly's brother-in-law. Thomas' brother married Kelly. There ya go.

Thomas' house is a great place for Holly and I to live... but there is one setback. His basement, where Holly and I would live, is not complete. The place looks fine, and when you picture the basement completed, it is the best place for Holly and myself. It's not very far from the church, so that's a plus. But still... we'll have to finish the basement.

The reason I'm happy Dad called was because I proposed that he helped out with finishing the basement. He could be paid by Thomas, because Thomas said that he was going to pay like 3 or 4 different professionals to do different jobs in the basement. Instead of doing that, my dad has all the experience in doing those jobs. I mean, Dad did build his own house! When I talked to him, he said that he doesn't want to be paid! What?! He said that all he wants to be paid for is gas, there and back. "This is a gift for you and Holly. And if this blesses the family by me helping them finish the basement, then that's great." Isn't he the best dad of all time? I believe so!

He'll be coming up here on June 1st, and work until June 10th, leaving June 11th. Whatta man. He'll be tired after that 10 days. I'll help him as much as I can, but I have Camp Timberlake the 7th through the 11th. It'll be great to work with him, and I'm so happy he is doing this. That man is just... well... the MAN. Cannot thank him enough.

I then took pictures of the basement so my dad could see what the basement looks like, and see what he will be dealing with. He thinks it'll take a while, but I don't think Thomas is expecting Dad to do everything to completely finish the basement. Hopefully we'll get a better understanding with what EXACTLY we will be doing to finish the basement as much as possible.

Afterwards, I went back up to the church to finish prep for Sunday morning. There wasn't much to do in prep, but it still needed to be done. We're ready for tomorrow... the first Sunday with Joy being there. I'm thinking it won't be as stressful, but we'll see. I'm out for the count. Goodnight people!
