Well, I did help a little bit. Thomas called me around 7:30 in the morning to let me know that he was going to get sheet rock and he would need help unloading it off his truck. I found my dad, who was sitting outside enjoying the cool weather, and told him that we would head over there as soon as Thomas calls me with word that he was at his house. Evidently, it took a little longer than expected for Thomas to get things ready. I would've liked a little more sleep, but oh well. Around 9:45, dad and I headed over to Thomas' place. We helped carry sheet rock and concrete sheets downstairs, then carried some other storageable things into the garage. It was around 11:00am by the time I had cleaned up and got to work.
I worked all day at the church, finishing and editing the Large Group guide for camp. I have typed out everything that could be said, as if it were a script. It should make things easy on me in the middle of worship and I can't remember what needs to be said next. This way, all things are thought through and what is said and prayed is specific, not random and rambling. You know what I mean. There was a good thing about work though... there wasn't a staff meeting. Bill was out of town, so everyone got to get some work done instead of the meeting. I liked that. I practiced some for the songs for camp, all 5 of them. Hopefully, my voice will hold up at camp.
After practice, I started setting up for the camp meeting and the Sunday morning curriculum. The meetings went fine, but were really short. I don't think we had enough time with the people going to camp to understand what needed to be communicated. A little frustrated... but it's alright. I think camp will be fine, I just think that we could be more prepared and prepare our counselors better. The curriculum meeting was fine, nothing special. All the teachers that showed up understood what they had to do, and I answered any questions that were asked. All the teachers got their folders... and I was done working for the day!
I came "home" to the Porter's and ate dinner with the Porter's. My dad got some things done around the basement. He planned, sheet rocked, framed and set up what he could. Looks like I'll help him out on another day where I can help more... like sanding. I don't know what day that will be... but it better be soon. I'll help out on Saturday, probably. Not really sure. I will help before I go to camp for sure.
And that's it! It's night time. Sleep time. It was a long day, and it's over. Night!
